At Coventry Auto Locksmiths we can code new and replacement keys whether you have lost all your keys or are just after a spare set.

Coventry Auto Locksmiths provide a rapid response service for lost car keys, stolen car keys, broken car keys and spare car keys.

We provide keys for a wide range of different vehicles and they are cut to fit the existing lock in your car to make sure that they work perfectly.

We not only cut keys for Fords, Hondas and Vauxhalls but we also cut keys the more difficult models made by Volvo, Mercedes and BMW, something which very few of our competitors are able to do.

Remote Key Fobs

The remote key fob allows you to remotely unlock and lock your vehicle by the pressing of a button, it can also arm and disarm your alarm if your vehicle has one fitted.

Most modern car keys are three keys in one. They are:

  • A mechanical key which releases the steering lock.
  • A key containing a coded transponder chip which is read by the car when the key is put in the ignition.
  • A remote control to unlock the car doors and de-activate the alarm

Don’t panic if you have lost a car key which does all these things, we can still get them replaced.

We can make sure that lost car keys are erased from your car immobiliser systems so that they can’t be used to start your vehicle should they get into the wrong hands and we can also ensure that your new transponder key is coded correctly for your vehicle.

If it’s just a set of spare car keys you need then we can do that as well. Just pop into our shop and we can do them while you wait.

Spare Keys

If you can’t find your spare set of car keys and you’re worried about only having one set then drop in to see us and we can sort out some spares in no time. It always helps to have a spare car key either in case of an emergency or for another driver.

Using your existing set Coventry Auto Locksmiths can quickly and easily cut a duplicate set for you. If you have recently bought a second-hand vehicle you may only have been given one set of car keys so for peace of mind it pays to have a second set cut. This is a far cheaper and quicker option than going to a main dealer to get a spare set.

Broken Car Keys

Broken car keys and keys snapping in the ignition lock is a common problem that we often called on to deal with. Usually caused by general wear and tear, car keys may weaken over time and then eventually snap.

Using specialist key extraction tools we are normally able to remove broken keys without removing and stripping the lock, however depending on the type of lock system and how much of the key has been left in the lock, stripping the lock is occasionally necessary.

Stolen Keys

If your car or commercial vehicle keys have been stolen then we can cut and programme new transponder keys to your vehicle.

In order to prevent the stolen keys being used we are able to re-programme your new keys so that only they can be used in the vehicle. By doing this the stolen keys will no longer be recognised by your vehicle ignition system.

It may still be possible for thieves to gain access to your vehicle using the stolen keys because they are cut the same way. They wouldn’t be able to start the vehicle but they could still potentially get access to your vehicle interior.

To avoid this it is possible to do a complete lock change or adjust the tumblers in each lock barrel so that they can’t gain entry. We will be able to advise you if this is necessary or not.

In the event of your car keys being stolen we would advise you to inform the police in order to file a stolen car key report. You should also inform your insurance company.

Lost Keys

If you are unfortunate enough to have lost your car keys and have no spares then we can help you gain entry to your vehicle using non destructive entry techniques. This will involve lock picking or other lock system manipulation methods.

We are specialists at gaining entry to private and commercial vehicles and we have the expertise and appropriate tools to carry out the work.

Once we have gained entry we can determine the requirements for your new car keys and make sure that they are programmed correctly to operate the immobiliser.

Re-Shelling Keys

Your car key is used almost every day of your life and so it’s not surprising that these things get worn out!

Many of us result to either running it into the ground until they key itself breaks or we purchase a new key.

Both of these options are often costly but aren’t always necessary.

We can re-shell your key which means putting a new plastic body back onto the key so it looks and operates like new which is much cheaper than replacing the whole key and subsequently saves you money.
